Antonin Noir
2000

Dedicated to Marsovin’s late founder Anthony Cassar, affectionately known as Sur Tonin, Antonin Noir is a Private Estate Selection wine blended from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes harvested at the Marnisi Estate in Marsaxlokk, the first and the largest in the series of Marsovin’s privately owned Estates, intended for the production of premium wines. Tasting Notes:

Appearance

Moderate intensity with a medium ruby core and a wide garnet rim. Tinted long legs indicate generous alcohol and a vintage of excellent maturity..

Nose

Moderate intense developing aromas of minerality: tar, smokiness; oak, nutmeg, ginger, leather and ripe fruit: plums and black berries.

Palate

Moderate acidity integrating well with ample quantities of ripe tannins. It is medium bodied with intense mature berried fruit flavours: plums and cranberries, coupled by mineral hints of an earthy and stony nature. It has a silky texture, rounded tannins and flavours of cinnamon, nutmeg, leather and oak. A creamy texture with generous alcohol and great length of flavour.

Conclusion

A very elegant terroir-driven wine from an exceptional vintage, harmonious with soft, juicy fruit, complex aromas and velvety texture. It is excellent to drink now but can keep for at least another 6-7 years.
